Look up a Malaysia car leasing price online and most pages end with "contact us for a quote". You can't budget a fleet on that, and you can't compare it with a bank loan either.

So here is our price list. It shows the monthly rate for every car in the MalaysiaCarLeasing.com fleet on every term we offer, followed by what moves the price up or down and what the rate pays for.

Before you read the tables:

What is our cheapest car lease?

The cheapest car we lease is the Perodua Bezza 1.3. It costs from RM1,600 a month on a 24-month term, and RM1,500 a month if you commit to 36 months. On a 6-month contract it is RM1,900 a month.

The Bezza is a compact sedan. We put it with sales staff, field officers and anyone who spends the day driving between appointments in town. If you need more room without a big jump in price, the next cheapest are:

If you put our Bezza rate next to a bank loan instalment for the same car, the instalment may well look smaller. That comparison leaves out insurance, road tax, servicing and tyres, which the lease rate already pays for. More on that below.

See the full details on the Perodua Bezza page.

What drives the price of a car lease

1. Term length

The longer you commit, the less you pay each month. Take the Bezza: RM1,900 on 6 months, RM1,750 on 12, RM1,600 on 24 and RM1,500 on 36. Same car, RM400 a month apart.

A car on a short contract comes back sooner and has to be prepared for the next customer, and that cost is spread over fewer months. Even so, a 6-month term is often the right call for a project, a new branch, or a trial run before you commit a bigger fleet.

2. Segment and model

A compact sedan costs less than a seven-seat MPV, and the Alphard and Vellfire sit at the top of the list. Broadly, the more the car costs to buy, the more it costs to lease.

3. Model year

We lease two Honda Accords. The 2018 Accord 2.4 is RM3,650 a month on 24 months; the 2022 Accord 2.0 is RM4,500. If a director needs an executive sedan but not the newest one, the older car saves RM850 a month.

4. Mileage plan

The standard plan covers up to 4,000 km a month, which is plenty for office runs and most sales territories. If your drivers do long interstate trips every month, there is an unlimited mileage plan at a higher rate. Ask us for the figure for your car and term.

What is included in the monthly rate

Every rate in the tables above includes:

That leaves fuel, tolls and parking as the main costs on your side.

Comparing a lease price with a loan instalment

When you buy a car on hire purchase, the instalment is only part of the bill. You also pay separately for:

And when you sell, the car may be worth less than you planned for.

With a lease, those costs sit inside one fixed monthly figure and there is no down payment. There is a RM100 booking fee online, a deposit equal to one month's rate, and the first month. The deposit and first month are invoiced only after you have inspected the car and signed the agreement.

What you give up is ownership. When the term ends, you return the car or extend the schedule and keep the same unit; there is no option to buy it. If owning the car matters to you, a loan is the better fit. We compare hire purchase, rent-to-own and leasing in more detail in lease to own vs hire purchase vs leasing.

For tax, lease payments for business use are generally treated as an operating expense. The details depend on your company, so check with your accountant.
